Is Secrets AI Free? What the Free Tier Actually Gives You
Yes, Secrets AI has a permanent free tier: 20 text messages a day, basic memory, no pictures, no video, no calls you can afford. Here's what it...
Candy AI has no native iPhone or Android app. The real product is the website, and it installs to your home screen in about four taps. Everything else calling itself a Candy AI download is someone else's file.
Search for a Candy AI app and you'll find download pages, APK mirrors and store listings that look convincing. None of them come from the company. Candy.ai is run by EverAI Limited in Malta, it has no listing on the Apple App Store, and there is no official Candy AI app on Google Play either.
What exists is a website that works in any mobile browser and installs to your home screen as a Progressive Web App. You get an icon, a full-screen window and the whole platform โ chat, photos, video, voice. No download file, no permissions prompt, no third-party developer in the middle.
This guide is for adults 18+. If you want the short version: open the site on your phone, sign in, add it to your home screen, and ignore every page that asks you to download something.
The table below is the whole situation. Two rows are official, three are not.
| Where | Official | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Apple App Store | No | Not available |
| Google Play | No | No official listing |
| Aptoide / APK sites | No | Third-party uploads |
| Mobile browser | Yes | Full platform |
| Home screen PWA | Yes | Same site, own icon, full screen |
That Aptoide listing is worth a closer look, because it shows how these things go wrong. It describes a text-to-image and video generator with customisable avatars, style and colour palette adjustments, photorealistic, cartoon and anime output, and a community feed for sharing artwork. That is not Candy AI. EverAI does not publish it. Someone uploaded a different product under a familiar name and let the search traffic arrive.
Two reasons, and neither is an oversight.
The first is Apple's rules. Overtly sexual or pornographic apps are banned from the App Store, which is why NSFW AI companion platforms generally stay web-first. Google Play is friendlier on paper but still restricts adult content, so the same logic applies.
The second is money. Selling subscriptions on the web skips the 15 to 30% store fee. For a platform where the subscription is the entire business, that's a meaningful margin. Candy AI isn't unusual here โ Secrets AI and OurDream AI are web apps too.
This takes under a minute on either phone. The result is not a native app, but it looks and behaves like one: its own icon, no browser bar, full screen.
One login works across devices, and your chats are stored on the company's servers, so a conversation started on a laptop picks up on the phone. One thing people get wrong: deleting the icon does not delete your account or your companions. It removes a shortcut. If you want the account gone, that's a separate request to the company.
Thousands of people search for a Candy AI download every month, and the ecosystem has filled the gap. The help centre is blunt about it: any app or APK claiming to be Candy.ai is not official.
The risks are ordinary and boring, which is what makes them easy to wave off:
A few tells worth memorising. The real platform never asks you to download a file. Ads promising Candy AI free unlimited access or free tokens are fake. The address has to be exactly candy.ai โ pages at other domains that ask for your Google password are phishing. And if you do pay for the real thing, the charge appears as EverAI on your card statement, not as Candy.
If you've already installed something unofficial on Android: uninstall it, change your passwords, and check your card statement for charges you don't recognise.
The mobile browser gives you the full platform, not a cut-down version. Companions chat, send photos, talk, and appear in short videos.
Character creation lets you shape appearance, body, hair, personality, voice and hobbies, and you can build girls, guys or anime characters. One custom character is free. Text chat runs on large language models and supports romantic roleplay, emotional conversation and interactive storytelling. Reviewers note both safe-for-work and explicit adult modes.
Images are Candy's strongest suit โ we rate the platform 9.8 overall, with its picture work scoring well above its memory. Photorealistic photos and image consistency are among the best in this niche. Video comes as image-to-video clips and Live Action scenes on selected characters; there's no text-to-video from scratch. Companions send voice messages, and interactive voice calls are in beta. Reviewers say the voice leans on text-to-speech models.
Memory is the weak point. Features exist to track past interactions, but testers report storylines resetting after 48 to 72 hours. If continuity is what you're after, that matters more than the photo quality, and it's the main reason people start looking at Candy AI alternatives.
The free tier is a demo, not a way to use the product. Five messages total, one character, one image, and no 18+ media.
| Plan | Per month | Billed |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 5 messages, 1 character, 1 image |
| Premium monthly | $13.99 | $13.99 monthly |
| Premium 3 months | $8.99 | $26.97 quarterly |
| Premium 12 months | $3.99 | $47.88 yearly |
Prices verified September 2026. Every plan includes 100 tokens a month for images, voice and video. The 12-month plan is advertised as up to 70% off. Some guides quote $12.99 a month; that doesn't match the verified $13.99.
Payment goes through Apple Pay, Google Pay, cards, bank transfer or crypto. It is not bought through Apple or Google, so refunds follow the company's terms rather than store policy โ and those terms are tight. A refund is available only within 24 hours of payment and only if you've used 20 tokens or fewer. The price is the same whichever device you use, so there's no saving from waiting for an app.
Tokens are the thing to watch. They're the meter on images, voice and video, and heavy picture use burns through 100 a month quickly. Our full Candy.ai review breaks down where they go.
Data is encrypted in transit, but chats are not end-to-end encrypted. The privacy notice says messages may be shared with third-party LLM providers, and prompts may be de-identified and used to train models. Data is kept up to three years after your last activity.
Practical steps, none of them dramatic. Use an email address without your name in it. Keep a screen lock on the device. Remember that a home screen icon is visible to anyone who picks up your phone โ a folder or a second home screen page helps. And never upload photos of real people or share identifying details in chat.
Nomi and Kindroid both ship proper apps on iOS and Android. Nomi's App Store listing shows $15.99 a month, or $8.33 a month billed yearly. Neither matches Candy's photos, and the store builds limit adult content โ that's the trade you're making for a native install.
If photos are the reason you're there, the web app is the only route. If you're weighing up the wider field, our best AI girlfriend app ranking, sorted by what each one actually costs, puts the prices side by side.
There is no official Candy AI app in either store, and you don't need one. Open the site in your browser, sign in, add it to your home screen, and treat every download page as hostile. Especially on Android.
One more thing worth saying plainly: an AI companion is not a real person. If the experience starts crowding out sleep, work or friends, take a break from it.
Not from the App Store, because there's no native iOS app. Open candy.ai in Safari, sign in, tap Share and choose Add to Home Screen. You get an icon and a full-screen window with the whole platform inside.
No APK is official. Every Android download claiming to be Candy AI comes from a third party, and the company's help centre says so directly. Unofficial builds can carry unchecked permissions, unwanted ads and fake login screens.
Yes. The home screen install is the same website, so chat, character creation, images, video and voice all work as they do on desktop. Your login and chats carry across devices because they're stored on the company's servers.
Only barely. The free tier gives you five messages in total, one character and one image, with no 18+ media. Unlimited chat needs Premium, and the price is identical on every device.
As EverAI, the company that runs Candy AI, not as Candy. If you see a charge under a different name after visiting a download page, that's a signal to check your card statement and change your passwords.
