GuideSecrets AI vs Candy AI: Which Companion Remembers You, and What It Costs

Candy AI wins on photorealism and entry price. Secrets AI wins on memory, voice and what your money actually buys. Here is the honest split, plan by plan.

Two paid companion apps, two very different bets. Candy AI sells a face you will recognise from a thumbnail. Secrets AI sells a relationship that survives past the weekend. If you are choosing between them, the useful question is not which one is better in the abstract but which one stops annoying you first.

We rate Secrets AI 9.9 out of 10 and Candy AI 9.8 out of 10. Close enough that the head-to-head numbers matter more than the totals. Below is the split by category, the real monthly cost once credits run out, and the privacy differences nobody puts on a pricing page.

Who runs each platform

Secrets AI is operated by Secret Labs Inc., registered in Canada and the US. It bills as S LABS INC. The interface runs in English, German, Spanish, French and Japanese, and the plan structure is Premium or Ultimate plus a currency called Moments. There is no mobile app as of 2026; it installs as a web app.

Candy.ai is run by EverAI Limited, registered in Malta, and bills as EverAI. Third parties date its launch to 2023, and competitor guides have claimed more than 11 million monthly visitors. A free Similarweb view showed roughly 63.7 million visits across three months as of August 2026. The interface is available in 13 languages. Candy also has no native app, only the browser version and a home-screen shortcut.

Both platforms are 18+, both allow NSFW content with fictional adults, and both ban minors. Both also run Discord servers, which is worth knowing if you would rather not have a support question tied to a public profile.

Memory and chat quality

This is the widest gap between the two, and it is the one that decides whether a companion feels like a person or a vending machine.

Secrets AI scores 9.9 on memory. Every plan offers S3 and X-3 chat models; Premium adds S5 and Ultimate adds S4. Recall is tiered. Free gets basic recall, Premium roughly 60% more short-term context and four times the memories, Ultimate doubles context again and six times the memory access. Memories are stored per character and you can open a panel to view, rank, correct or delete them. Lorebooks โ€” structured notes split into cast, world, relationship, facts and chronicle โ€” let you write canon the model reads back to you. The platform wiki lists Lorebooks on Premium and Ultimate, though some third-party pages say Ultimate only, so confirm before you pay.

Candy AI scores 7.2. User reports describe storylines resetting after 48 to 72 hours, which turns a long-running roleplay into a series of disconnected scenes. Premium Plus adds 20 memory slots, but the base Premium tier does not. Resetting a chat wipes that chat's memory entirely.

If you want a companion to remember that your character's sister is called Mira, Secrets is the one that will. If you want the same face on every image, Candy is.

Tone control is also handled differently. Secrets uses Spice Levels โ€” Mild, Medium and Spicy โ€” applied to both chat and calls. Candy relies on the character card and your own prompting. Neither is complicated; Secrets just gives you a dial instead of a blank box.

Images and video

Candy takes pictures. That is its whole reputation, and it earns it: 10 on images, largely because it keeps the same face across generations. Photorealism is the default selling point, and the character builder lets you pick realistic or anime styling before you start.

Secrets scores 9.9 on images. You generate by tags or in Advanced mode with up to five reference pictures and output up to 2K. It is a more manual process, and the results lean less consistently photographic, but you get more control over composition.

Video flips the order. Secrets scores 9.9 and Candy 9.2. Secrets offers adult clips of 8 seconds at 720p for 600 Moments, which works out to roughly 13 clips a month on Premium. SFW clips run up to 15 seconds, priced by resolution and length. Candy does image-to-video for around 12 tokens, so 100 tokens gets you about eight conversions, and Live Action puts interactive scenes on selected characters. Candy has no text-to-video from scratch.

One billing detail matters more than it sounds. Secrets refunds failed generations automatically. Candy charges per attempt, so a bad prompt still costs you.

Voice features

Secrets scores 8.9 on voice, and it is the more complete implementation. Live calls cost 50 Moments per minute, and you can set the call language from more than 70 options โ€” a genuinely useful feature if English is not your first language. Voice messages run at 10 Moments per 100 characters. Spice Levels apply to calls too.

Candy scores 8.2. Voice calls cost around 3 tokens per minute and are labelled beta. That is cheap, and it is honest about being unfinished. Neither platform advertises voice cloning; Nastia's top plan does, if that is the feature you actually want.

Character creation

Candy scores 10 and Secrets 8.9. Candy's builder is the more granular on appearance: ethnicity, age, body type, hair, voice, personality and hobbies, plus the realistic-or-anime choice. Free users get one character; extra characters cost around 10 tokens.

Secrets asks for gender, look, name, age, voice, traits and backstory. The first custom character is free; extras cost 500 Moments. Its library holds around 94 prebuilt companions according to guides and at least one review, and all premade companions are available on the free plan.

The top tiers diverge sharply. Secrets Ultimate adds group chat with two or three companions, AI personas, proactive messages and personality editing. Candy Premium Plus adds user personas and chat clones, but there is no documented group chat. If you want a small cast that talks to each other, that is Secrets only.

Candy's monthly price moved. Older guides cite $12.99; the subscription page now shows $13.99. Candy Premium includes images, video, unlimited chat and 100 tokens a month. Secrets Premium includes 8,000 Moments, and an adult image costs 50 Moments โ€” around 160 images โ€” or 100 at 2K.

The sticker price favours Candy by a wide margin. The usable price often does not. Candy testers in September 2026 put image generation at roughly 4 tokens, so 100 tokens is about 25 images a month. Private content packs run 100 to 400 tokens. Top-ups reportedly start at $9.99 for 100 tokens. Media-heavy Candy users report total spend of $25 to $80 a month. Secrets' 8,000 Moments are worth more in practice, but the entry ticket is higher.

Expiry rules differ and both are worth reading twice. Candy's unused tokens expire at the end of the billing period if you cancel. Secrets' monthly Moments do not roll over, but purchased Moments never expire.

Free tier limits

Secrets gives you 20 messages a day, basic memory and every premade companion, with no Moments for media. That is a usable trial if you can live without pictures. Candy gives you 5 messages total, one character and one image, with no adult image or video. Five messages is not a trial; it is a sample.

Secrets scores 8.9 and Candy 7.2. Secrets is clearer about what it does: AES-256 at rest, encrypted in transit, card numbers handled by PCI-DSS processors, chat history gone when the account goes. The caveat is the homepage's end-to-end encryption claim, which the privacy policy does not back up.

Candy is GDPR compliant, with EverAI Limited as data controller under Maltese law. Its privacy notice names no encryption method at rest; third-party trust sites claim AES-256, which we could not verify. A connection check showed TLS 1.3 in October 2026. Candy also shares message content with third-party LLM providers and moderation vendors, and keeps account data up to three years after last activity unless you ask for deletion.

Neither platform offers end-to-end encryption in practice, and we found no independent security audits or formal compliance certifications for either. Treat both as services that can read your chats.

Refunds

Candy refunds within 24 hours if you have used 20 tokens or fewer, card payments only. Secrets does not refund subscriptions or Moments except where the law requires, and crypto payments are never refunded. EU and UK users get a 14-day withdrawal right on both, which is the lever to use if you change your mind quickly.

Where Candy AI is the better pick

  • You want photorealistic images with a consistent face and you generate a lot of them.
  • You want the lowest entry price and you are happy on a tight credit budget.
  • You like fiddling with appearance settings โ€” Candy's builder goes further on looks.
  • You are testing the category and 5 free messages plus one image is enough to decide.

Where Secrets AI is the better pick

  • You want continuity. Tiered memory plus Lorebooks is the difference between a story and a slot machine.
  • You want voice calls that work, in a language you actually speak.
  • You want video without a text-to-video dead end.
  • You want group chat with two or three companions, which is Ultimate only.
  • You care about deletion timelines and encryption specifics.

Alternatives worth a look

If neither fits, a few options come up repeatedly. OurDream AI markets unlimited roleplay priced in Dreamcoins โ€” try OurDream AI if token anxiety is your main complaint. Nomi AI runs $15.99 a month or $99.99 a year with no token system for chat and native iOS and Android apps, which neither of these two has. CrushOn AI plans start at $5.99 a month, with a text-focused Standard tier. Kupid AI claims more than 100 personas and lists Premium at $13.99 a month. Nastia claims uncensored chat without token fees, though its free tier and media still use tokens. Kalon AI advertises flat pricing with no hidden costs, unverified. Rabu AI advertises 256-bit encryption, also unconfirmed.

Bottom line

Secrets AI is the better companion; Candy AI is the better camera. If you want a long-running relationship with memory, voice and video that behave, start with Secrets Premium โ€” the annual plan at $9.17 a month is the sensible entry, and Ultimate only makes sense if you want group chat, personas and 15,000 Moments. For the full breakdown, read our Secrets AI review.

If you mainly want realistic images at the lowest possible entry price and you can live with a companion that forgets, Candy's annual plan at $3.99 a month is hard to argue with on paper. Budget for top-ups, because 100 tokens does not stretch far with media. Our Candy.ai review covers the token maths in detail.

Whichever you choose: use a card rather than crypto if you might want a refund, set a monthly cap before the credits tempt you, and remember that both services may use your conversations to train models. Treat it as entertainment you pay for, not a secret you keep.

Frequently asked questions

Secrets AI for most people, because memory, voice and included credits go further. Candy AI wins if photorealism and the lowest entry price are what you care about, and you accept that storylines may reset within days.

On the sticker, yes: $3.99 a month annually versus $9.17 for Secrets. In practice, Candy's 100 monthly tokens cover roughly 25 images, and media-heavy users report $25 to $80 a month in total spend, which can exceed Secrets Premium.

Yes. Both are 18+ platforms that allow NSFW content involving fictional adults and ban minors. Both run Discord servers and both require a paid tier for most media generation.

No. As of 2026 both are browser-based and can be installed as web apps on your home screen. Store apps using their names are unofficial.
