What we like

  • Best value for media: $9.99/month (annual) includes unlimited chat plus 1,000 dreamcoins, about 200 images
  • Strong image generation with realistic and anime styles; videos up to 60 seconds with optional audio
  • Deep character builder and a very large community character library
  • Subscriber chat costs 0 coins, so no per-message metering
  • Transparent, detailed per-feature coin price list in the official help center

Watch out for

  • Memory relies mainly on recent history, so long arcs can fade (per independent tests)
  • All your generated images and videos are blurred when your subscription lapses
  • Conflicting refund rules (14-day quality guarantee vs. a 25%-usage cap), and crypto payments are never refundable
  • Homepage claims end-to-end encryption, but the privacy policy describes server-side encryption and allows training on your data
  • Free users can't generate media or buy coins, and there's no PayPal

The short version

OurDream AI is a browser-based, 18+ roleplay and companion platform run by Dream Studio USA, Inc., a Delaware corporation. It is not subtle about what it is: millions of community characters, a builder that lets you design a girlfriend or boyfriend in realistic or anime style, and image and video generation paid for with a currency called dreamcoins.

We rate OurDream AI 9.7 out of 10. That puts it near the top of the category on media, and behind on memory and privacy. If you want a lot of pictures and short videos for a small monthly fee, it is one of the strongest options we've looked at. If you want a companion who remembers a three-week story arc, keep reading before you pay.

This review is based on the platform's own pages โ€” homepage, terms of service, privacy policy, refund policy and help center โ€” plus what independent reviewers and users report. We haven't subscribed or generated anything ourselves, so treat the quality notes below as reported rather than tested.

What OurDream AI actually is

Strip away the marketing and you get three products in one subscription:

  • A chat platform. Text roleplay with premade characters or your own creations, with group chats, voice messages and voice calls.
  • An image generator. Realistic and anime styles, with in-chat images and editing tools.
  • A short-video generator. Clips up to 60 seconds, with optional audio.

The company behind it is Dream Studio USA, Inc., with a notice address at a suite in Dover, Delaware. The refund and underage policies also reference Dream Studio LLC and Tektopia Ltd, which is worth knowing if you ever need to chase a payment. Founding year is unconfirmed; sources disagree, and we won't guess.

It's web-only. There is no iOS or Android app, and any download claiming to be the official OurDream app is not from Dream Studio USA Inc. You can add ourdream.ai to your home screen in Safari or Chrome for a shortcut, but that's a bookmark, not an app.

Character builder and library

Customization is where OurDream earns its keep. We rate it 10 out of 10. The builder goes deeper than most rivals: appearance, personality, scenario, greeting, and the usual knobs you'd expect from a platform that treats character creation as a first-class feature.

The community library is large. The homepage says over 11 million characters; some third-party write-ups claim 63 million. We treat the homepage figure as the more reliable one, and either way you won't run out of options.

Creating a chatbot costs 10 dreamcoins, which is trivial. Publishing public characters is part of the paid plans, so the library keeps growing from subscribers rather than staff writers.

One limitation worth flagging: you can't upload your own photos for the platform to replicate. That rules out a chunk of the deepfake use cases some people look for, and it's a deliberate choice โ€” real-person likeness uploads are banned outright. If you want a companion built from a photo of someone you know, this isn't the platform.

Image generation

Images are OurDream's strongest suit. We rate them 10 out of 10, the highest category score on the platform.

Generation takes seconds. The models include a standard "Dreamy" option and a "Vivid" mode; some reviewers also mention Balanced and Ultra image modes, though the help center only confirms Ultra for video, so treat the extra image tiers as unconfirmed. Reviewers consistently compare output quality to Candy.ai, which is the benchmark most people use for photorealistic companion images.

Pricing is where it gets interesting. Standard images cost 10 dreamcoins per two images. In-chat images cost 5 each. Enhancing or editing an existing image costs 10 to 20 coins depending on the tool. A subscriber's 1,000 monthly coins therefore buy roughly 200 standard images โ€” a lot for the money.

You can also buy community packs of images for 250, 750 or 1,000 coins, which is a nice shortcut if you'd rather browse than prompt.

Video generation

Video is the newer feature and the one that eats coins fastest. We rate it 9.9 out of 10.

Clips run up to 60 seconds. Video costs 100 dreamcoins per 5 seconds, so a full minute costs 1,200 coins โ€” more than a monthly allowance. Ultra-quality video costs 200 coins, enhancing a clip costs 50 per 5 seconds, and adding audio costs 20 coins per second. That audio rate is steep: a 60-second clip with sound adds 1,200 coins on its own.

Older reviews cite 5 to 30 second clips and 100 to 300 coins, which tells you the feature has expanded and the pricing has moved with it. Lip-sync is unconfirmed on the official pages, so don't buy on that assumption.

In practice, 1,000 coins gets you about 10 short video clips a month, or fewer if you add audio or upscale. If video is your main interest, budget for top-ups.

Voice and group chat

Voice is functional but expensive. Voice calls cost 50 dreamcoins per minute, and premium-voice narration costs 5 coins per paragraph. A 20-minute call uses 1,000 coins โ€” your entire monthly allowance. We rate voice 7.9 out of 10, which reflects the cost as much as the feature.

Group chat is better value. You can put several characters in one scene and pick who responds by tapping their portrait or typing @ plus their name. It's a small UX touch that makes multi-character roleplay feel less like herding cats.

The Genius and Lively Genius chat models cost 1 dreamcoin per response on top of the base subscription. Subscriber chat on standard models is free, so this only matters if you want the smarter models.

Chat quality and memory

Independent reviewers describe the chat as coherent and in-character, with consistency issues over long sessions. We rate realism 8.9 out of 10 and memory 7.9 out of 10 โ€” memory is the weakest part of the core experience.

The problem is structural: OurDream relies mainly on recent conversation history rather than a persistent long-term memory system. Long story arcs fade. If you're the type of roleplayer who builds a weeks-long narrative with callbacks and running jokes, you'll notice the seams. For shorter sessions, it's fine.

There's also an Automod filter that screens conversations. The company's own help center admits it can be a bit too sensitive, which it attributes to payment providers. Expect the occasional false flag on innocuous messages. It's the price of keeping card processing alive on an NSFW platform, but it's still annoying mid-scene.

On language: the interface is English-only, though the help center says you can ask a character to switch languages in chat. That's a workaround, not localisation.

Pricing

OurDream keeps it simple: one paid plan, two billing options.

PlanPriceBilledDreamcoins
Free tier$0n/aNone; 1 coin per message
Premium monthly$19.99/month$19.99 every month1,000 per month
Premium annual$9.99/month$119.88 per year2,000 upfront, then 1,000 per month

The annual plan halves the effective monthly price and adds a 1,000-coin bonus upfront, so new annual subscribers start with 2,000. Coins arrive at 2pm EST on the renewal date. Unused coins roll over and don't expire โ€” a genuinely fair touch, since expiring credits are one of the more common dark patterns in this market.

We rate value 9.9 out of 10. For media-heavy users, the annual plan is hard to beat. For chat-only users, it's mediocre: you're paying for generation you may never use.

There are reports of a Deluxe tier at $29.99 or $59.99 with 5,000 coins. It doesn't appear on official pages, so we're not treating it as real until it does.

Dreamcoin costs in full

The help center publishes a detailed per-feature price list, which is more transparency than most competitors offer. Here it is:

ActionDreamcoins
Chat message, subscriber0
Chat message, free account1
Genius or Lively Genius reply1
In-chat image5
Standard images10 per two images
Enhance or edit image10 to 20
Video100 per 5 seconds, up to 60 s
Ultra video200
Voice call50 per minute
Create a chatbot10
Community packs250, 750 or 1,000

Third-party reports put top-ups at $11.99 for 1,000 coins, $49.99 for 5,000 and $159.99 for 20,000. Those figures are unverified and not on official pages. What is confirmed: only subscribers can buy extra coins, so the free tier is a dead end for media.

The free tier is worth describing plainly. You can sign up and chat, but every message costs 1 dreamcoin, and free users can't generate images or videos or buy coins. It's a trial in all but name, without a time limit.

Privacy: the encryption claim doesn't hold up

Here's where we get blunt. We rate privacy 6.9 out of 10, the lowest score on the platform.

The homepage FAQ claims chats are end-to-end encrypted and that "not even us" can read them. The privacy policy describes something different: AES encryption at rest, TLS 1.3 in transit, and databases on a SOC 1/SOC 2 Type 2 hosting platform. Solid infrastructure โ€” but not end-to-end encryption.

More to the point, the policy says your information may be used to train the company's AI and machine learning models, and a proprietary LLM moderation filter screens conversations. You cannot both train on chats and be unable to read them. The homepage claim and the legal document can't both be true, and the legal document is the one that governs.

Other details from the policy:

  • Retention is "as long as necessary" with no fixed periods.
  • Popular public characters may stay active even after their creator deletes their account.
  • OurDream says it does not sell personal information, per its Nevada and CCPA sections.
  • Account deletion is available under Profile > danger zone, processed in 24 to 48 hours, and removes generations, unpublished characters, chat history and unused coins.
  • We found no mention of two-factor authentication.

Practical advice: use a unique password, a separate email, and don't put real names, addresses or identifying details into chats or prompts. This applies to every platform in the category, not just this one.

Safety and content rules

OurDream is an 18+ platform and says so at the gate. Signup requires an 18+ attestation, and depending on region, payment partner or risk assessment, it may request government ID or facial age estimation.

The content rules are stricter than the marketing implies. The Prohibited Content Policy and Community Guidelines ban underage content, including "loli" characters and scenes implying infants, along with real-person likeness uploads, deepfakes and other illegal material. Adult NSFW roleplay with fictional characters is explicitly permitted. That's the right line, and it's enforced by the Automod filter.

Refunds and cancellation

This is the messiest part of the platform. The refund policy was last modified in March 2026 and contains rules that don't quite agree with each other.

On one hand, there's a 14-day quality guarantee: report defects or services significantly different from the description within 14 days to [email protected], and you'll get credit, a replacement or a refund, decided case by case within about seven business days.

On the other hand, the help center says refunds are denied if more than 25% of a product was used, and monthly subscriptions aren't refunded once coins are used up. Annual plans may get a full or partial refund. Unused portions of a billing period are generally non-refundable.

Also in the policy:

  • EEA, UK and Swiss users have a 14-day withdrawal right, which may be lost once the digital service is fully provided.
  • Crypto payments are final, never refundable.
  • Chargebacks filed without contacting support first can suspend your account.
  • After a refund, media is blurred and unused coins are removed.

Cancellation itself is easy: cancel anytime at ourdream.ai/profile and keep Premium until the period ends. What happens next is the catch โ€” your generated images and videos are blurred when your subscription lapses, and stay blurred until you resubscribe. Download anything you want to keep while you're still paid up.

The 25% usage cap sits awkwardly next to a 14-day guarantee, because a heavy user can burn through a quarter of a monthly allowance in a couple of evenings. If you're going to ask for a refund, ask early and don't touch the generator.

Payment methods

OurDream takes credit and debit cards and crypto. If your card is declined, the help center suggests G2A prepaid codes as a fallback. There's no PayPal, Apple Pay or Google Pay. For anyone who prefers not to hand card details to an adult platform, crypto is the option โ€” just remember it's non-refundable.

How it compares

PlatformBest forPrice fromMonthly credits
OurDream AILots of image and video for the money$9.99/month annual1,000 dreamcoins
Candy.aiPhotorealistic images, cheap yearly plan$3.99/month annual100 tokens
Secrets AILong-term memory and voice calls$9.17/month annual8,000 Moments

Candy.ai is cheaper on paper, but its Premium plan includes only 100 tokens a month, and its refund window is 24 hours with a 20-token cap. Secrets AI includes 8,000 Moments monthly, which sounds generous until you learn video burns 600 Moments per clip; group chat and Lorebooks sit behind the $39.99 Ultimate tier. All three are web-only and allow 18+ content.

The honest summary: OurDream wins on media volume per dollar, Candy wins on entry price, and Secrets wins on memory and voice if chat continuity matters more to you than pictures.

Pros and cons

What's good

  • Genuinely unlimited chat for subscribers โ€” no per-message metering on standard models.
  • Image generation that holds up against the best in the category, at roughly 200 images a month on the annual plan.
  • Videos up to 60 seconds with optional audio, which is rare at this price.
  • A deep character builder and a very large community library.
  • A transparent, detailed coin price list published in the help center.
  • Coins don't expire, and the annual plan adds a 1,000-coin bonus.

What's not

  • Memory leans on recent history, so long arcs fade.
  • All your media is blurred when your subscription lapses.
  • Refund rules conflict: a 14-day guarantee versus a 25% usage cap.
  • The end-to-end encryption claim is contradicted by the privacy policy, which allows training on your data.
  • Free users can't generate media or buy coins.
  • No PayPal, no native app, English-only interface.

Is OurDream AI legit?

Yes, in the sense that it's a real company with real terms, a published refund policy, a support email and an active Discord. The paperwork is more thorough than most competitors'. The caveats are about how the platform treats you once you've paid, not whether it exists.

Two things to keep in mind. First, stick to ourdream.ai โ€” unofficial apps and APK files are not from Dream Studio USA Inc. Second, no official promo codes are known; the Discord runs giveaways instead. Anyone selling you a discount code is probably not affiliated.

Who should use it

Worth it if you generate a lot of images and short videos, you like building characters from scratch, and you want unmetered chat as part of the package. The annual plan at $9.99/month is the best media-per-dollar deal we've seen in this category.

Look elsewhere if you want a companion with reliable long-term memory, or if you're mainly a texter who rarely touches the generator. In that case, Secrets AI is the stronger chat product, and Candy.ai is the cheaper way in.

Either way, start with one month rather than a year. Watch how fast you burn coins, check whether the memory holds up for your style of play, and keep your identity out of your prompts. An AI companion is entertainment, not a substitute for the people in your life or for professional support.

Final verdict

OurDream AI does the hard parts well. The character builder is deep, the images are strong, the video is unusually capable for the price, and subscriber chat is genuinely unmetered. The coin system is documented clearly enough that you can budget before you spend.

The trade-offs are real, though. Memory is average, media vanishes behind a blur if you stop paying, the refund policy contradicts itself, and the encryption claim on the homepage doesn't survive contact with the privacy policy. None of that makes it a scam. It makes it a platform you should read before you subscribe.

We rate OurDream AI 9.7 out of 10. Best in class for media, mid-table for memory, and weak on privacy. If that matches what you want from an AI companion, it's a fair deal.

Frequently asked questions

You can sign up and chat for free, but free users pay 1 dreamcoin per message and can't generate images or videos or buy extra coins. Unlimited chat and media generation require a Premium subscription at $19.99 monthly or $9.99/month billed annually.

Data is encrypted at rest with AES and in transit with TLS 1.3, and you can delete your account from your profile. But the privacy policy says data may be used to train AI models and that a moderation filter screens chats, so the homepage's end-to-end encryption claim doesn't hold. Use a unique password and keep identifying details out of chats.

Your generated images, videos and community packs are blurred until you subscribe again. Unused dreamcoins don't expire, but you're limited to free-tier features. Download anything you want to keep before your subscription lapses.

Refunds are case by case. You can report a defect within 14 days to [email protected], but the help center says refunds are denied if more than 25% of a product was used, and monthly plans aren't refunded once coins are used. Crypto payments are never refundable.

No. It's web-only, with no standalone iOS or Android app. You can add ourdream.ai to your home screen from Safari or Chrome for app-like access, but any download claiming to be the official app is not from Dream Studio USA Inc.
