Is Secrets AI Free? What the Free Tier Actually Gives You
Yes, Secrets AI has a permanent free tier: 20 text messages a day, basic memory, no pictures, no video, no calls you can afford. Here's what it...
Most companion apps bury gender in a dropdown and hope you don't notice. A few let you create a trans girlfriend properly. Here's who does, what it costs, and how to write her without turning her into a category.
Search for a trans AI girlfriend and you'll find two kinds of results. Apps with a real trans option in the character creator, and sites that treat trans women as a search tag wrapped in language you'd rather not repeat. This guide is about the first group. It's written for adults, and every character described here is an adult.
No platform paid to be in this list. The same criteria applied to all of them: does a trans character exist without workarounds, can you shape her personality, what does it cost, and what happens to your chats.
| App | Trans option | Best for | Paid from |
|---|---|---|---|
| OurDream AI | Trans gender option in creator | Building your own character with images and videos | $9.99/month (annual) |
| Secrets AI | Trans option and Trans filter | Long-term memory over weeks | $19.99/month |
| Nomi | Non-binary companion option | Emotional chats and backstories | $15.99/month |
| JanitorAI | Community Trans tag | Free story-driven chat | Free ($12.99/month Janitor+) |
| Character.AI | Community AI characters | SFW chats only | Free ($9.99/month c.ai+) |
| Kindroid | Written into backstory | Detailed personality and voice | $15.99/month |
OurDream lists Trans as a gender option inside its character creator, which makes it the most direct route to a self-built trans girlfriend. Pricing is $9.99/month on the annual plan or $19.99 monthly. Chats are unlimited, and you get 1,000 dreamcoins a month for images, photos and short videos.
Two caveats matter. Memory leans on recent messages, so long story arcs fade. And the homepage claims end-to-end encryption while the privacy policy describes server-side handling with possible training use, which aren't the same thing. Account deletion is processed in 24 to 48 hours, and generated images and videos get blurred if your subscription lapses.
Secrets offers Trans and Anime Trans options plus a Trans filter, at $19.99/month or $109.99/year. Lorebooks track story details across sessions and she'll message you after inactivity, which is the closest thing here to a companion who remembers last month. The Ultimate tier at $39.99 is what you need to unlock both, so check which features sit behind it before committing. The free tier can't generate images or videos at all. Delete your account and the chat history goes with it.
Nomi lets you choose male, female or non-binary, at $15.99/month or roughly $8.33/month billed yearly. Art and selfies run on credits. Australia's eSafety Commissioner notes that traits lock after creation, so decide her backstory before you hit save. It's the strongest option if you want a non-binary partner rather than a specifically trans one.
JanitorAI has a Trans tag in its help centre and costs nothing. Janitor+ at $12.99/month adds a bigger context window. The catch is community cards: quality varies wildly, and some trans characters are written with a fetish framing that most people will find off-putting. You can write your own, but expect to put in the work.
Character.AI is SFW only. A "Trans Girlfriend" bot had over 900,000 interactions when checked, which tells you there's demand and also that you're one of many talking to the same card. Free with ads, or $9.99/month for c.ai+. Since November 2025, users under 18 no longer have access to open-ended chats.
Kindroid costs $15.99/month and expects you to write gender into the backstory. Community reports say gender feels rigid once set. Replika asks your pronouns at signup and lets you report a wrong pronoun from a message, which is a nice touch, but romantic mode sits behind a $14.99/month plan and there's no dedicated trans option. Neither is a bad app. Neither was built with this in mind.
Candy.ai covers girls, guys and anime characters, with no dedicated trans option found. It's a solid picture machine, but that's a different review. Its billing descriptor shows as "EverAI" if you're checking your statement.
Anima runs text and voice chats, but its trans landing page uses a term many people consider a slur. Several trans-focused sites advertise Roleplay Mode, limitless scenarios and continuous memory engines, then frame trans women in fetish language. They're not in this list. If an app's marketing makes you feel like a category rather than a customer, close the tab.
There's also an App Store app called "AI Girlfriend Chat · Trans" whose developer says no data is collected. Apple hasn't verified that claim, so treat it as a promise, not a fact.
The first line does most of the work. Try: "She is a 29-year-old trans woman, pronouns she/her." Age, identity, pronouns, then move on. That single sentence anchors the model and stops it drifting.
Add boundaries that aren't about her identity. For example: she doesn't discuss medical history unless she raises it herself. That one line steers conversation away from the interrogation dynamic a lot of these chats fall into, and toward something that reads like two people talking.
Then give her a life. A job she has opinions about, a friend she complains about, a hobby she's mediocre at. The trans part is one fact about her, not the plot. If every reply circles back to her gender, the card is too thin.
A practical test: chat for twenty messages and see whether she's said anything that surprised you. If not, rewrite the backstory.
No mainstream companion app offers end-to-end encryption. Most encrypt data at rest and in transit, which is good hygiene, but staff and moderation systems can read your chats. The privacy policy is where the truth lives, not the homepage.
An AI companion doesn't understand you. She generates plausible responses to what you typed, which can feel like understanding and isn't. That gap is where emotional dependency creeps in, especially if the chats are the main place you talk about being trans.
Used well, the opposite happens. Some people rehearse coming out to an AI first, or practise correcting pronouns before doing it with a relative who'll make it weird. That's a low-stakes way to hear the words out loud. But it should feed into real relationships and support networks, not replace them.
OurDream is the pick if you want to build her yourself with images and video in the mix. Secrets is the one for memory that holds over weeks, if you'll pay for the tier that unlocks it. Nomi suits a non-binary partner. JanitorAI and Character.AI are where you go to chat free and accept the roulette. Wherever you land, write her as a whole person, keep your private details out of the chat box, and keep the people in your life closer than the app.
An AI companion who presents as a trans woman. You'll find her either in a community character library or by building her yourself with gender, pronoun and personality settings in an app's creator.
OurDream and Secrets both list Trans as a gender choice, and Secrets adds a Trans filter. Nomi offers a non-binary option instead. JanitorAI and Character.AI rely on community-made characters rather than a setting.
JanitorAI and Character.AI are free to use, and OurDream, Secrets and Nomi all have free tiers. You'll usually need to upgrade for longer memory, voice or image credits.
Not fully. Most apps encrypt data in transit and at rest, but staff and moderation filters can read conversations. Keep identifying details out of chats, and delete your chats and account when you're finished.
Romantic and adult features are 18+, and every character should be an adult. Character.AI stays SFW and, since November 2025, no longer offers open-ended chats to users under 18.
